Great news from ePriority development!
ePriority will be installing its second major software release and hardware
upgrade early next week. This release is a product of many months of hard work
and brings with it a number of noteworthy improvements:
Improved Performance
E-mail delivery has been increased from 60,000 to more than
430,000 messages per hour. (Based on 1k message delivered from
development to production -- we may see an improvement when
installed in production.)
No Single Points of Failure
Long awaited load balancing functionality will be installed, completing
our initial architecture design. With this last critical technology in
place, ePriority will be free of any single points of failure. (Note that
this does not pertain to the Personal Data Center product.)
Reduced Outage Risk
As most everyone knows, our single biggest source of outages has been due to
database problems. With this release of ePriority, no database connectivity will
be required for core processing and delivery services. ePriority will focus on
using its database for managing batch statistics and client accounts.
Stabilized Logging
Only two outages have resulted in loss of data. Both of these were due to a
dependency on Solaris system logging (Syslog), which has not been tolerant of
high volume. ePriority will now be using its own system to ensure that we are
logging as fast as we can -- without the risk of data loss.
Much more is in store for ePriority in the upcoming months. Now that we can
process E-Trade's mail in two hours (compared to previous processing times
upward of 14 hours), we can begin adding the features necessary to attract
high volume clients:
Batch Statistics Reporting
Clients will be able to watch processing statistics in real-time from our client
website. Batch-level information important to accounting people will also be
readily available.
Link Tracking
Clients can choose to have web links in their messages tracked. This feature will
also include opt-in/opt-out management.
Re-delivery Configuration
Clients can customize the number of re-attempts and time to wait between attempts
for each batch.
Delivery Throttling
With increased speed comes a greater need for better control. Configuring a
maximum number of e-mail messages per domain will soon be available.
And we're just getting started...
